Meet Kai, CC and Hǎitún

Who we are

Hǎitún is a 2000 Prout 38 catamaran. We bought her in May 2026 from Newport on the Isle of Wight, after she’d been sitting unused for a couple of years. Since then we’ve replaced all her rigging, added a staysail, taken her hulls back to epoxy and applied Coppercoat, and relined most of her interior and recovered the saloon upholstery. Kai is a former sailmaker who has been sailing since he was eight. CC is new to sailing, studying for her Day Skipper and running the galley.
On our YouTube channel and in this blog we share what we learn along the way: practical maintenance for older catamarans, passage planning and seamanship, and what life aboard is really like on the south coast of England.

We keep Hǎitún at a marina in Chichester Harbour on the south coast of England, and sail mostly around the Solent and the English Channel.

A Prout 38 is a British cruising catamaran built by Prout Brothers on Canvey Island, Essex. Hǎitún was built in 2000. She’s 11.58m long with a 5.3m beam and 1.05m draught, cutter-rigged with in-mast furling, and has two Yanmar 40hp engines.
